2 BIG Changes!

Hi everyone!
I hope you've been enjoying the great (and the rough) weather spring has brought!

I'm gonna be a Mustang! Or... a Pony..?

If you didn't catch my last blog post, I accepted a position to stay with FOCUS as a full-time campus minister for the next 4 years! I'll be transitioning to Southern Methodist University which will be a BIG change, coming from UT Dallas! UTD FOCUS has 15 ministers and around 200 students, while SMU will have 3 ministers and roughly 40 students. It will be a challenge to adapt to but I'm honestly really excited for it!

Also is SMU the Mustangs or the Ponies? Google says yes. I may never figure that one out.

And in other news...

I'm getting married!

For those who haven't met her, this is Erin! We met in FOCUS as students at UT Arlington and I've had the pleasure of dating her for the last year and a half. She's insanely generous, kind, and empathetic. I constantly see or hear about her showing Jesus to her roommates, her coworkers, and her church. I'm so excited to spend our lives together!

Pizza Theology
You may remember hearing about "Pizza Theology" from last semester! We just put on another one last weekend and it went great! Two of our ministers, Garrett and Sarah, offered a deep-dive into how God sees our bodies and how we ought to see our bodies. In short, we named it "God and the Bod." (lol)

This was a particularly special event for me because I got to (1) see my old friends from UTA, (2) introduce UTD students to students/ministers I know from other colleges, and (3) spend time starting to form friendships with the SMU students I'll get to see next year!

Thank you to Care Church for hosting us! What a sweet friend and resource we've gotten to have with the leadership there.

Thank you as always for your support! I'm so grateful that I get to do this for work and I'm so excited for the next 4 years with FOCUS (and with Erin!).

Your brother,
Taylor

Ministry in the Mountains!

To all my friends working in schools, happy summer! Erin just had her last day at the elementary school this past Friday, and I know she certainly needs a break. Even though our semester ended a few weeks ago, God's still been moving in our community! We had our annual student leadership / campus ministry conference (SICM) and our 4 SMU students Miles, Jessica, Michelle, and Ruth, had an extremely meaningful time. I've got lots of pics to share from it!  Mustangs in Washington! Jessica, Miles, myself, Michelle, Ruth! Chinese food! Glamor shot SICM completion certificates! Beautiful sunset view from WWU All 120 SICM students & staff prayed over our SMU team for the coming school year. Very meaningful! Adventure! The Freemont Troll Rattlesnake Ledge Trail (5 mile hike!) Not pictured: Me almost throwing up 4x from the climb Our host, Bob! He housed Miles and me all week, fed us, and took us to the mountains between Mt. Shuksan and Mt. Baker! We had a great time getting to know

Endings and New Beginnings

We've made it to and past the final stretch! I've got some bitter-sweet pictures to share with y'all this month. End of Year Party We had our last big event of the year! The university offered to cater dinner, and the students spent time sharing how they've seen God working through individual people in our community this year. We also took some time to recognize our leaders and seniors, thanking them for all the effort they've poured into their peers. Laurence, our campus director, is officially on leave with his new baby! He's the one with the artistic touch so that means Siena and I had to do our best. I think it turned out awesome after all! Wholesome Wholesome part 2 Our graduating seniors! We made them Christmas ornaments as a gift so they can have a yearly reminder of the ways God has blessed them through this community while they were in college! We asked each of them to say a prayer each year for the new students who will be following in their footsteps.

Post-Operative Ministry

Hi everyone! I hope you're enjoying the start of the holiday season! I know it's been especially sweet so far for my Rangers fans. 👀  I've got my fingers crossed for tonight!! (No shade to my Astros and Arizona friends) Surgery & Recovery  Speaking of the Rangers, I myself have also been out with injury. I had a procedure done a few weeks ago that was meant to be a 1-week recovery but has turned into a 3.5-week recovery. God is good though! He's brought Erin and me a lot of comfort during the difficult moments through friends and family members coming and spending time with us, and even buying us meals and cleaning our home! We are very grateful for the people the Lord has blessed us with over the years. Enjoy some post-op anesthesia Ministry, naturally, has looked very different this month but by God's grace, I've still gotten to keep up my regular meetings with students over the phone, and they streamed me in to our small group via FaceTime. It's felt
