The Year's Winding Down

Hi everyone, happy May! I hope this ministry update blesses you; it's the very last one of my apprenticeship! You can still expect one next month, but that will be after my apprenticeship officially concludes and I continue on as a part of the overall Focus team.

Brandon!

Each campus minister in Focus is assigned a "Pastoral Supervisor" who coaches/mentors them throughout the year. This is Brandon, who I got paired with! He's one of the wisest people I know and has been such a role model to me all year long. He'll be real with me, sharing the sensitive details going on in his life, while constantly teaching me how to minister to students, and manage an entire non-profit organization at the same time.

I'm sad that I won't be working with him as closely next year, but am so grateful to be able to keep up our friendship as a part of the same church, as well as at all-campus meetings.
P.S. It's his birthday tomorrow!

Pictures galore!

Here are all of our UTD Focus leaders from this last year! I've gotten to build sweet friendship with many of them and watch how God's not only changing the lives of these students, but is working through their leadership to change the lives of their peers.

And here are all the UTD Focus campus ministers from this year! (Excluding Victoria who just had her first baby, Theodore, and is on maternity leave!)

The last thing I want to share today is some good news! One of the students I've been in core (small group) with this year decided to be baptized! I've seriously loved getting to know Nhala. He's one of my favorite people at UTD! Brandon, who I mentioned earlier, has also been close friends with him and baptized him this past Saturday. :)

As I embark on the final month of this apprenticeship, I want to leave you with my sincere gratitude for supporting me throughout the year financially and/or in prayer. I hope to remain connected with you over the coming year, whether you decide to remain on this support-team, or through other means! Much love.

Your brother,
Taylor

  1. Whoo Brandon! Also thanks for being a friend to Nhala! I know God is going to continue to use you at SMU to enrich those students lives too.

Ministry in the Mountains!

To all my friends working in schools, happy summer! Erin just had her last day at the elementary school this past Friday, and I know she certainly needs a break. Even though our semester ended a few weeks ago, God's still been moving in our community! We had our annual student leadership / campus ministry conference (SICM) and our 4 SMU students Miles, Jessica, Michelle, and Ruth, had an extremely meaningful time. I've got lots of pics to share from it!  Mustangs in Washington! Jessica, Miles, myself, Michelle, Ruth! Chinese food! Glamor shot SICM completion certificates! Beautiful sunset view from WWU All 120 SICM students & staff prayed over our SMU team for the coming school year. Very meaningful! Adventure! The Freemont Troll Rattlesnake Ledge Trail (5 mile hike!) Not pictured: Me almost throwing up 4x from the climb Our host, Bob! He housed Miles and me all week, fed us, and took us to the mountains between Mt. Shuksan and Mt. Baker! We had a great time getting to know

Endings and New Beginnings

We've made it to and past the final stretch! I've got some bitter-sweet pictures to share with y'all this month. End of Year Party We had our last big event of the year! The university offered to cater dinner, and the students spent time sharing how they've seen God working through individual people in our community this year. We also took some time to recognize our leaders and seniors, thanking them for all the effort they've poured into their peers. Laurence, our campus director, is officially on leave with his new baby! He's the one with the artistic touch so that means Siena and I had to do our best. I think it turned out awesome after all! Wholesome Wholesome part 2 Our graduating seniors! We made them Christmas ornaments as a gift so they can have a yearly reminder of the ways God has blessed them through this community while they were in college! We asked each of them to say a prayer each year for the new students who will be following in their footsteps.

Post-Operative Ministry

Hi everyone! I hope you're enjoying the start of the holiday season! I know it's been especially sweet so far for my Rangers fans. 👀  I've got my fingers crossed for tonight!! (No shade to my Astros and Arizona friends) Surgery & Recovery  Speaking of the Rangers, I myself have also been out with injury. I had a procedure done a few weeks ago that was meant to be a 1-week recovery but has turned into a 3.5-week recovery. God is good though! He's brought Erin and me a lot of comfort during the difficult moments through friends and family members coming and spending time with us, and even buying us meals and cleaning our home! We are very grateful for the people the Lord has blessed us with over the years. Enjoy some post-op anesthesia Ministry, naturally, has looked very different this month but by God's grace, I've still gotten to keep up my regular meetings with students over the phone, and they streamed me in to our small group via FaceTime. It's felt
