Celebration of Lights

I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving and are looking forward to Christmas and the other approaching holidays!

Celebration of Lights

SMU has an annual tradition where the Monday after Thanksgiving Break, they'll have a ceremonial lighting of Christmas lights at Dallas Hall & the huge Dallas Hall Lawn at the northern end of campus.

You can't see them in the darkness, but a group of students from FOCUS ran into each other and watched with me. All together there were probably over 2000 SMU students who attended the event!

Before lighting

After!

Just before they turned on the lights, we concluded the ceremony with a massive candlelight service.

From China to America

Meet my friend Jerry! He was raised in Beijing then came to America for high school and now college. He found Jesus in America and has been one of our most consistent freshmen this year! It's been such a pleasure getting to know him. He's funny, WAY too competitive, and extremely passionate about our Lord.

One thing he's still figuring out is his sleep schedule...

Taught him how to play disc golf yesterday!

Also, since writing this, he told me that he just lost a family member back home that he was close to. So please be praying for him and his family as they mourn. Hopefully he'll find his friends in Focus to be safe and caring people for him to process this with.

Thank you all for your support and for praying for students like Jerry. My prayer is that through our joint efforts, hundreds more like him will experience Jesus's love and go on to proclaim the good news to whatever workplaces and nations they find themselves in over the coming decades.

Your brother,
Taylor

I've got lots of pictures  to share from this month! As of June, I've officially transitioned from the UTD FOCUS Minister Staff to SMU's! We took a hiking trip at the Palo Duro Canyon last weekend to get to know one another better before the year starts, and to meet each's significant others! From left to right we have me, Laurence, Sarah, Siena, Jacob, and Erin! I'll briefly introduce each of them to you! If you're more here for the pics, you're welcome to scroll past the intros. ;) Laurence directs SMU Focus and will be mentoring me throughout the year! We've been meeting up on a weekly basis and that's already been a sweet and enriching time. I've bee

Sunset and Sunrise

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for your support and for keeping up with how God's been moving on the college campus and in our case, SMU! I hope this update blesses you. Fun stuff! I took a bunch of students to a local park and taught them how to play disc golf! We had a sweet view of the Dallas skyline and thought we'd take a selfie. From left to right we have myself, Will, Jonathan, Brenden, David, Quinn, and John! After being in college for 4 years and in campus ministry for an extra year, I finally went to a college football game. Here you'll see Will (who I'll tell you about later in this blog) and Quinn (who I've been studying the Bible with this semester!) Erin and I snagged a pic at the second game, this last Saturday! We were supposed to wear blue but don't have any SMU shirts so I wore UTD and she wore UTA lol. The FOCUS students roasted us for it when we met up with them. One of our student leaders owns an entire arsenal of nerf guns. So, after our weekl

Fall then Bald

H ey everyone! I hope you enjoyed Halloween if you had any festivities this year. And I hope you've been enjoying the cooler weather. It's given me the chance to finally try out my SMU hoodie! Fall Retreat! Once a year in the Fall, we'll invite our students to a retreat center outside the city for a weekend! It went extremely well! We worshiped together, heard several students share their stories, and spent a ton of time building relationships through games, crafts, and 1-on-1 "walk & talks" through nature! Here's the whole crew! (Besides 3 friends who had to leave early!) Rock painting (Arm...?) painting On our way to play football & volleyball (Jerry with the goggles was WAY too serious) lol Volleyball! Miles, Jerry, and Jacob Can you tell it was way too early? Firepit & S'mores! (I also thought this was a great pic of my friend Will!) And there's Fall Retreat! It was a blast and I can't wait for Winter Retreat in January, where all t
