Unity is in the Air!

Hi everyone! We're nearly to fall. I hope you've been enjoying the cooler temperatures in the meantime. I have lots to share from the last month! (really the last 2 weeks)

The semester is in full swing, and we have been out there hustling for the kingdom! God has already brought such neat new students into our ministry.

Worship Nights

We've had 2 Worship Nights so far! We had great attendance to both and got the chance to invite the attendees to join small groups, which you'll hear more about further in this update.

This event is a brand new one to SMU! There was a similar event hosted last year, which is planning to be merged with ours. This is a worship service hosted by students from several different ministries on campus. So far we already have around 10 organizations who have expressed interest in partnering.

It was such a cool experience uniting across organizational and denominational divides to praise the Lord in one unified voice.

We split the service into 3 sections. Worship, Scripture, and Prayer. They were led by nondenominational, reformed, and catholic leaders on campus respectively.

We will be coming together for this event once a month and we are stoked to see momentum building! Our vision is that Perkins Chapel will soon be fully packed in with followers of Jesus (for the first time in who knows how many decades)!

A week before, FOCUS hosted our own worship night and that went great as well!

We had around 55 attend, which is the most I remember FOCUS having in one service at SMU to date. I'm very excited to get the ball rolling with small groups and our weekly fellowship night starting this and next week.

SMU Football

Had about 10-15 FOCUS students go to the opening home game last week against HCU. So far we're 2-0 and are playing BYU tomorrow! Florida State is coming in a few weeks and the students are electric in anticipation.

Community Group

Our students and ministers have been out there hustling over the last couple weeks meeting lots of new students and inviting them into community.

Luke and I just had our first Community Group last night and had a great group of guys come out! Half of those there were freshmen! We're already nearly too big for his dorm, and still have about 10 additional students who are interested that couldn't make it out last night. I'm excited to keep you updated on how this group develops. They've already started brainstorming how we can collaborate to be a light to other students on campus and even go serve the homeless communities near SMU.

God has already done so much and truly, this update only scratches the surface. I'm so enthusiastic for this school year and I hope that you are also pumped for God's mission on the college campus. Thank you so much for your support and for your prayers. Please continue praying for these students and that they become culture-builders and Spirit-filled men and women for Christ.

P.S. We have 4 different nationalities represented in our Community Group so far (Russia, Panama, Italy, US). What a neat, strategic mission field the college campus is for making disciples of all nations! I'll leave you once again with one of my favorite passages of scripture from Revelation.

"After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb... For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." - Revelation 7:9,18

Summer FOCUS

It's been a slower month on the ministry front. We've got a few new students transferring into SMU this fall who have already gotten connected. Besides that, most of my time has been spent raising support, meeting our local SMU students, and getting acclimated to being a father. Summer FOCUS We've still been having a weekly fellowship night, and it's been great! This is the ad we put up around SMU for Summer term students to see We've had a great turnout from our campuses around DFW! Probably around 200 students who drive out to Richardson on a weekly basis Students I've talked to have been feeling impacted by the messages, and touched by the worship. Baby Audrey's now been here for a month! Here are some recent highlights. First big smile! Honk shoo 🤨 Loves affection 🍵 Not too much to report this month, but once August and especially September rolls in, things will get crazy and I'll have lots of stories to share! I hope you enjoyed some pics of baby ...

Over 600 students!!

Wow, the first month of 2025 has already wrapped up! I hope the new year has been going well for each of you so far. It's yet to be seen how this year with treat our ministry at SMU, but so far it's been very encouraging! Winter Retreat We just finished up our biggest event of the year! At Winter Retreat, over 600 students (possibly even 700) from across Dallas / Fort Worth drove out to spend the weekend in Glen Rose to praise God and grow in their faith. This was the most lively group we've ever brought. There were several occasions where we finished our worship session, but the students just kept singing and forced the band to pick the song back up! lol unfortunate for them, but what an incredible problem to have. We also had our largest group from SMU attend!  A total of 22 came out. That's about half our ministry! Now that more SMU students are experiencing winter retreat, they will get to share how great of an experience it was to their peers when it rolls back aro...
