Happy December! I hope you had a restful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. I can't wait for Christmas to roll around as we celebrate the birth of our savior.
Ministry at SMU has continued to progress fruitfully this month! One thing we've been trying this semester is starting a monthly All Campus Worship Night that all the other ministries on campus are invited to collaborate on. So far we have around 8 organizations who have expressed interest, and it's growing every month!
Baby Audrey!
As promised last month, I have news about our baby and it's gonna be a girl! As soon as Erin and I came across the name Audrey, we knew that was the one.
Erin's best friend Taylor got the results early and baked a cake with either pink or blue frosting that we got to cut into
We're so excited! Erin's already bought her multiple baby dresses
My eyes are red here because of allergies. I definitely wasn't crying...
All Campus Worship Night
Our hope is that the Lord will fill out Perkins Chapel on campus each month after a couple years, and that the students will catch the vision more and more. Our vision is that this worship night will be a unifying event that becomes common to the Christian college experience at SMU for decades into the future.
Aaron
Meet Aaron! He's a sophomore this year and got involved in FOCUS in the spring. He ran into our small group accidently and has stuck around since! He grew up nearby in Grand Prairie and only a couple years ago started taking his faith seriously.
He took running into FOCUS as an opportunity to dive deep into his faith and build connections with other believers. He recently told me that his friendships in FOCUS have gotten deeper than any others he's had before -- now he's one of the most consistent members in our community! He and I have been studying the bible together once a week for nearly a year and he's grown a ton.
He's started stepping up as a leader even though he doesn't currently have any formal position, and has been getting students together to play tennis, grab dinner, etc. He's even helping lead a new bible study with a freshman named Jordan! The future is bright for him and I have high hopes for how God uses Aaron to build His kingdom at SMU in the coming years!
KFG
The last thing I wanted to share is this is the last week of FOCUS's annual fundraiser called Keep Focus Growing! A group of generous donors have offered to match $77,000 of funds raise this week! If you feel led to contribute, you can follow any of the instructions below.
I hope you are excited about what God is doing at SMU and in the life of students throughout DFW. I can't wait for the spring to kick off and to watch how God continues to bring change to SMU through these students. Thank you so much for your support!
