New student and new baby! (almost)

Hi everyone! And happy baseball season to the fans out there. For my non-sporty friends, just know the Rangers are 5-2 and we like this.

I've got 2 students to share about this week!

Jordan (right) is an international student from Mexico. He's getting ready to finish up his freshman year, which has been bitter/sweet. Bitter because it's been difficult being away from home, but sweet because he has been developing deeper Christian friendships than ever before. He's been consistent to small group, our weekly 3-man bible study, and has gotten to meet a lot of other students from Mexico. God has been laying a lot of groundwork in his life this year, and I'm hopeful to see him really flourish next school year. He told me yesterday that he would be interested in SICM next year.

Aaron stumbled into our small group by accident last year after a run and stuck around ever since! He and I have studied the bible weekly over the last year and he has grown immensely in his faith. When he first came around, he had just started taking his faith seriously but was still new, and had a lot of trouble opening up to people. Now, he's probably the guy in our ministry who spends the most time with others and has learned how to ask them deeper questions about life and faith. He's gearing up for SICM next month and in the fall, he wants to become a leader! (which will basically look no different from how he's already elected to spend his time.) God has really blessed our community by bringing him in.

Nursery/Showers

Our little baby Audrey is due next month! We've been blessed abundantly by those around us as we've been getting everything ready. Erin's work, family, and our church have all thrown showers and several people have come by the house to help us figure out how to organize everything.

The best gift of all

We're seriously so excited to become parents and my prayer is that some day she will find a campus ministry like FOCUS as she learns what it means to become an adult and a faithful woman of God like her mother. Thank you so much for your support. Only one more update should pass before you get to see her sweet (probably raisin like) face.

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone, and happy new year! At least that's how it feels in FOCUS when August 1st hits. Welcome Week is around the corner, brand new pastoral apprentices are joining our team, and a whole new wave of students are coming to DFW to begin or continue their college careers, and will hopefully encounter Jesus while they're here. Last Summer FOCUS of 2024 Tonight is our last Summer FOCUS, where all the local students join together for a weekly worship service. We took a group picture last Thursday, and you can see just how many students make the drive each week, some from all the way across the metroplex. One of the most special moments this summer was when a group of Hispanic students & ministers led worship together in both English and Spanish throughout the night. Baby Bass!

Hi everyone, I hope you and your families had a fun Halloween and are looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas! As you could see in the title, Erin and I have huge news!! We're expecting our first baby this May, 2025! We will hopefully find out the gender later this month, so there's a good chance I'll get to share that by the next ministry update. We've been thinking and praying about having a child since getting married in 2022, and are overjoyed to have one on the way. Please pray for Erin's safety as pregnancy progresses, and that our baby grows strong and finds a life waiting for them filled abundantly with love, and a passion for the Lord. Hi everyone, I hope you've been staying cool in the heat, and staying safe if you live along the coast. If anyone suffered any damage and there's anything I can do or people I can connect you with, please don't hesitate to reach out! Praying for y'all. Summer Growth Just because students are taking a break doesn't mean that God has been! He's still been moving and maturing them as disciples, getting them ready for this coming school year! Two students in particular come to mind. I've gotten to keep up with Jaden and Luke over the summer. Luke is in town taking summer classes, and Jaden and I have been Facetiming from California to Texas, continuing to study the Bible together where we left off in May.
